Christian Dior announced yesterday that John Galliano has been fired from the company.Dior’s president and CEO, stated: “I condemn most firmly the statements made by John Galliano which are a total contradiction with the essential values that have always been defended by the House of Christian Dior.” As of now, Dior intends to proceed with its runway show in Paris this Friday.
The reason seems to be a video showing John Galliano making a stetment that he "loves Hitler".Members of the fashion community initially stayed silent on the matter, following Dior's example of waiting for the police to investigate the situation before drawing conclusions.
The latest face of Dior,Natalie Portman said that she is deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano's.In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way.
On the other hand Vogue Italia's Franca Sozzani blogged that the video looked like a setup(we hope it is).
